Functioning of The Pneumatic and Arbor Press System

What is Arbor Press?

An Arbor press is a small hand-operated press. It is usually used to perform smaller jobs, such as staking, riveting, installing, configuring, and removing bearings and other press-fit work

Use- Arbor presses are usually rated by the ideal force that the leverage bar can apply. Typically common are presses with a leverage of 1-5 tons. This leverage is achieved when a force is applied to the lever arm or wheel. Arbor presses can be mounted on a workbench, wall, or pedestal. The base is usually constructed of cast metal

In today’s industries, sheet metal is an important raw component that is used for various products. In the first stage, the sheet metals undergo shearing, bending, etc. In the second stage, the sheet is deformed due to the pressure applied by a punch. In the final stage, the tension within the material is gradually increased up to the amount that the sheet breaks along the contour of the cut, and finally, the cut-out piece of metal is ejected by punching in a downward direction.

What is Pneumatic Press?

In a pneumatic system, compressed air is used to transmit and control forces. In many industries, work is done by using pneumatic systems like automatic production lines, mechanical clamps, etc.

Pneumatic presses offer many benefits in a wide range of applications. These are great due to their- power, speed, low maintenance, and cleanliness.

Maintenance- Pneumatic press does not require much in terms of maintenance. If there is a leak, then only air escapes, which can be easily replaced once the leak is repaired.

Capabilities- Pneumatic presses operate at very high speeds compared to others like hydraulic pressed.

How does a pneumatic press work?

The potential force of pneumatic press comes from compressed air. An electrical charge is induced to set the machinery into motion. Compressed air or gas is fed into cylinders connected to the actual press mechanism. When the gas fills the tubes, the resultant pressure forces the movement downward of the press mechanism. When this movement is completed, the gas then escapes through exhaust valves, and mechanical springs push the mechanism back into it’s original position.
