Pneumatic Press v/s Hydraulic Press

Presses are used in industries for a variety of uses like squeezing, forming and pressing. There is various type of presses, the most famous two being Hydraulic press and Pneumatic press. They are used to perform some similar things. However, there are some differences between them, which need to be kept in mind before choosing any one of them.
Pneumatic Press
The manipulation of pressurized air controls this press. The air is forced into a tube, which after filling applies pressure on the press to move it downwards. Once the stroke of the press gets completed, the air is excavated through valves. Finally, mechanical spring’s causes the pump to move upwards.
Hydraulic Press
Hydraulic presses are chambers filled with liquid, which is generally oil. A piston presses into the chamber, causing the oil to shift position. Since, the chamber is sealed the oil exerts pressure on large piston or baseplate, causing it to move downwards.
Which to choose Hydraulic or Pneumatic?
The primary difference between the two is speed. A pneumatic press is much faster than the hydraulic press, which means it can perform many jobs faster. However, this advantage is not suited, where slow speed is required.
Level of maintenance required is also different. Hydraulic presses require more care and maintenance. They have many components which need to be maintained regularly. This makes them more costly. On the contrary, Pneumatic presses need less time and maintenance.
